Depression, frustration, and anxiety are natural responses; often times to something as simple as an unresolved conflict. I don’t think happiness is a choice, but it is a choice people want to make. Sure, I’d love to be happier. It would be easier to be a happier person if I didn’t have all of these things up in the air to worry about. And often the person telling me I should just “be happy” is the person fueling my anxiety and frustration, making me unhappy. Just “being happy” makes their life easier, not mine.
