Gaslighting and scapegoating — accurate. It is especially frustrating when you circle this argument with them. Mentally (and sometimes physically) exhausted by this seemingly never-ending game they play, you reinforce, yet again, having nothing to do with [x] but are still blamed for it. They refuse to budge even an inch to accept any wrongdoing or responsibility. Somehow, it’s your fault. My mother was this way, a scatter of ex-boyfriends were like this, even my ex-husband.
