How do you continuously forget to do something pertaining to your divorce? When I decided it was time to call it quits, my divorce (granted we didn’t have kids and I had a prenup) took me 1 appointment to an attorney for the consult, 1 very reasonable payment for the whole thing, and about a month for all of the paperwork to exchange hands and get signed by a judge. Point is, it got done. I’ve known people WITH children and complicated situations to get it over and done within 6 months, maybe a year if one party is fighting for more than they deserve. This dragging his feet about it means there is no urgency to get it done. And it can be very costly the longer you let it go. You have to ask yourself: Why isn’t he getting it done? Why is this not a priority?
