Glasses, especially reflective sunglasses, can hinder an algorithm from finding the points of reference it needs when determining whether there is a face in a photo. If there has been no facial detection, there will clearly be no facial recognition.
I accidentally tried this when I attempted to get into my phone. I got prescription sunglasses (love them) recently and didn’t think to remove them when I reached for my phone to read a text. They did not inhibit the phone’s facial recognition. But my mirrored Ray Ban’s did.
