I bet it didn’t even occur to him she would want to be left alone with her food. I’ve had men approach me throughout my life who treated me like I was obligated to chitchat just because I was there. Initially, I was way more polite about it than I should have been. Now, I can make a room drop by 40 degrees with a look.

I’m sure some would bark back with, “if she wanted to be left alone, why didn’t she take her food to go?”

Well, some of us want the experience and ambiance of the place where we are dining. We have just as much of a right to eat in peace as the next person.
