I encountered something I thought was grossly unfair in terms of cost, similar to “pink tax,” the cost of haircuts. If a woman has a pixie or short style and needs to go in to get it trimmed — just as often as a guy, so every 4–8 weeks maybe — she will pay almost 2x as much because they charge her the woman’s haircut rate. Even though she isn’t getting any more hair removed than say a guy with a short hairdo. I had a pixie for a couple of years. It was a love/hate relationship, but one of the biggest reasons I grew my hair back out was because it was costing me a fortune to keep a supposedly “easy” style to maintain. That is a lie too, pixies are a pain in the a** to keep up. Point is, I was paying way more than men with equally as short hair. When I would ask about it, I would get rude backlash from the establishment. #pinktax #haircuts #hair #beauty
