I grew up with a girl who’s mother was an absolute ice-queen. She had grown up with nothing, and yet because my family was poor and we too were growing up with nothing, she branded us as “undesirable.” The only reason she let her daughter play with me was because my mother was a teacher at our school. Unfortunately, my friend grew up to be just as much of a frosty b* as her mother; judging people on qualities they had no control over (e.g. a child growing up poor).
