I had a drunken older man, the husband of a friend of my mother’s, who, during an unwanted hug grabbed my ass and held it for a beat. Explain to me why adult men think it is ok to insist a young woman hug them? Gross. I would never force my kids to hug anyone, even family. I was maybe all of 17, he was well into his 60s. I was disgusted and made a point to never be alone with this man again. He’d apparently had a propensity for grabbing women his whole life and eventually lost his license to practice medicine because of it. He’d been accused of grabbing co-workers, nurses, even patients in a less than professional manner and was plagued with lawsuits and settlements for years until he was finally forced to retire. I felt terrible for his wife, but she stuck it out with him until he killed himself. Given how he had been with me, an underage girl, I don’t doubt he was inappropriate with those other women.
