I knew one couple who HAD coverage via their work (not freelancers) that covered them & their kids. It was affordable and they liked their coverage. “Affordable Care” was born and within the same year their coverage tripled because (according to the insurance co speel), “Your old plan didn’t cover all of the new requirements” (that were applied by the administration when they made insurance required or else pay a fine). The old plan was fine, the insurnace company simply took the opportunity to wallet-rape them for as much as they could get. Sure. Stuff costs more all the time: insurance, gas, taxes, an education, etc…but that is part of what is creating this wide maw between the have and the have nots. It gets harder and harder for those who start out on the bottom to gain any ground.
