I started a job once where the new manager decided all of the calls coming into the office should be routed through my desk. Um, what? First, he had tried to get me to work more hours while also urging me to do it off the clock. I refused to do anything off the clock. Then, he assigned me additional tasks outside of my working title, training, and pay. Finally, when the calls started getting routed to my phone, I hit my limit and quit shortly after. I was not his administrative assistant. We had a receptionist. He just wanted me to be the second tier within the confines of our small office space, dispensing sales calls and inquiries. I was getting calls for 20 new people I hardly knew.
