I think policies like this are silly. I had a friend who left a job at — rhymes with Jest Guy — because (at the time) they had a policy that stated you couldn’t take a sick day unless you had a doctor’s note. Um, okay. If I have the flu or a cold and am miserable 1. the last thing you want me to do is interact with a large number of customers who can also get sick. 2. Typically, you don’t make enough to afford a co-pay along with everything else, or 3. Some illnesses DO NOT require a trip to the doctor. Often I’m told the best thing is bed rest and fluids. I can see if someone is out for an extended period of time, but to penalize a person for ONE day of feeling sickly isn’t cool.
