I went out with one of my male friend’s for dinner. We ran into his sister (all adults here, all over 30). After mere seconds of conversation, she later told him, “She is aching to get married and have a baby. She is going to trap you with a pregnancy before she can’t have any kids.” Seriously. This person didn’t know me. And I was pretty insulted she would accuse me of trying to trap someone with a pregnancy. Especially since this guy friend knows me well enough to know I have no interest in marriage or having children. Still, I didn’t appreciate how ugly she was about our brief interaction, making outlandish assumptions based on introductions and light chit chat. I joked after and told him he should have told her I was a stripper named Cinnamon, just to see what her uptight reaction would have been then.

Anyway, I agree. I think it is entirely possible for men and women to be friends, assuming you can get over the social programming and bullshit telling us otherwise.
