I went to buy a truck once. I took my then boyfriend with me. Mistake. The entire time, they spoke to him and him only, even though he had absolutely nothing to do with the process of buying the truck. It was like, because I didn’t have a penis, they couldn’t understand me. I was literally being stonewalled out of the conversation about MY PURCHASE. Jokes on them, I didn’t buy there and I’ve since warned everyone I know who is looking to buy a vehicle to stay away from that particular lock. Though the asshats down the street weren’t much better. I went solo that time and they gave me the runaround. Even had one try to tell me 4 cylinder was the same as a v6. Like, really? You’re trying to con me when all I’m looking for is a v6 Chevy. You don’t have one on the lot, but instead of just saying you don’t, you waste my time. I finally left when they 3rd salesman to intervene suggested I settle for a car (since in his mind women shouldn’t drive trucks or SUVs). It is really frustrating when men dominate a certain industry and make it hell to do anything if you are a woman (like buying a vehicle).
