…e from one of their church supporters. They felt excited as they went through each item in the box. Until they opened a small container tucked in the bottom. The contents? Slivers of soap. Next to it was a small tin filled with used tea bags.
If you are “giving” for the gift of giving — as someone who has been that poor child going to bed early at night in hopes of sleeping off the hunger in my empty stomach — do not give away things you would not use yourself. If you have slivers of USED soap you are no longer using, please throw those away and pack a fresh bar of soap. As for the tea bags, I’m at a complete loss as to what they were thinking sending those. Again, if you wouldn’t continue to use it yourself or if it has been used to it’s fullest purpose (e.g. soap and tea) don’t send the leftovers. That is almost more insulting than sending nothing at all.
