Sometimes, the person who is complaining, surrounded by drama, and is always high-strung IS the person dealing with toxic people. I used to be very intense to be around because I was constantly on high alert, having to deal with the bs of the toxic family I was saddled with. When I would get called out on my shitty attitude, invariably by the same person who caused it, I would point out they were the root of it (with their games, laziness, gaslighting, and bs). They didn’t care. It took me a long time to realize I’d be a happier person without the toxic a**holes — because socially, it is frowned upon to cut one’s relatives from their life. Not being one to conform to social convention, but caring more so for my own emotional and physical health and needs, I cut them out of my life, and it has been grand.
