There has been a lot of debate about what starvation mode is and when it happens. There are people who regularly engage in intermittent fasting and have been found to have a lot of success — eating in an 8 hour period, then fasting for 16 (half of which is while you sleep). And naturally, as long as you only eat when you are hungry during that 8 hour period, you will tend to eat fewer calories, naturally. So it is unlikely you will fall into starvation mode.
