Say no to bad clients. If they won’t sign a contract, seem flakey or cancel calls, don’t get you what you need on time, or try to nickel and dime you (or straight up ask for significant discounts or free work), just say no. You’ll save yourself a lot of hassle and can spend that time looking for better clients.
This, in particular, is fantastic advice. I know people, not writers, but people with a side-hustle, who have encountered the occasional flakey client who tries to nickel and dime their time or asks for discounts upfront, but drags their feet when it is time to pay up even though the freelancer has done the work and done it well.
