We really don’t have the same stigma towards men who leave women to be single mothers anymore. I know so many women who have been put in awful situations where they had to raise their kids solo and battle it out just to makes ends meet AND get some kind of support from the father. Some of those fathers’ families, I’m sad to say, go out of their way to help their sons skirt their responsibility. Then years later, they dare to drop back into the picture like it is all A-OK, and suddenly they are ready to be dads. You know, now that mom has finally managed to get them raised and into school without him around, struggling the whole way on her own. Of course, I know a few really awesome guys who have gone out of their way to be in their kids' lives after breakups and divorces. Their kids want for nothing. But we need to see more fathers step up instead of stepping out.
