When I was younger we had discussions in class when we didn’t agree with something related to the topic at hand. I think coddling or allowing someone to shut down the conversation simply because it is unpleasant isn’t realistic. In the real world, we have to face so many opinions and situations that we find unpleasant. I’m not saying we have to suck it up and face everything head on that we don’t agree with 24/7 (gotta shut the door and change the dial to another station sometimes), but it is important for younger adults/teenagers to get an idea of how to deal with conflict and disagreements in a healthy contructive manner.
