Whether she likes it or not (raped by a non-relative or incest)? Threatening jail for a miscarriage? Gee, are we going to put women in prison for ectopic pregnancies too? We’re punishing women who miscarry as though that can be helped. It is biological. Do you know how common miscarriages are, especially early on in a pregnancy?

This lack of empathy, understanding, and logic is absolutely ridiculous. How is it we’re in 2019, and still having this argument about the right to our own bodies? You have women who are bullied into c-sections (even when they are not medically necessary). You have women who struggle just to have access to basic breast and cervical cancer screenings, TO BIRTH CONTROL. There are women who get a lot of push back when it comes to getting her tubes tied, whether they have kids or not. Doctors citing they think the patient will change her mind about having kids and regret preventing future pregnancies. Even though the whole point of her going to see the doctor is because she wants to responsibly prevent future pregnancies. I don’t know any guys who had a vasectomy who, when consulting for one, got the “you should wait a while longer because I think you’ll change your mind and want [more] kids” lecture.

Explain to me how this works? You want to cut back on a woman’s ability to prevent pregnancy as well as punish her for terminating one or having a miscarriage. But we’re not imposing any laws telling men they have to start getting vasectomies or increasing the punishments for men found guilty of rape and incest.
