Without knowing the full scope of his financial situation, I would say his refusal to discuss it is a huge red flag. Granted, you’ve only been dating a couple of months, so perhaps it’s premature to say. But as someone who has been there, done that, I’ve known plenty of men who adamantly refused to discuss finances with their would-be partner, even their spouses. Often it was because they had a lot of debt and were ashamed. Or they were insecure about their lack of money. Or they were concerned some girl would be a gold-digger if they knew what they were bringing in. Either way, couples should be able to openly discuss finances, relationship expectations, kids (having them or not), parenting styles, etc…There is nothing wrong with bringing up finances with someone you intend to be with.
